20 years in the trenches — working with court-adjudicated youth, families in crisis, first responders, and adult offenders navigating life's hardest turns. Now, I want to work with you. This isn't theory. This is lived wisdom.
At 23 years old, I began working with court-adjudicated juvenile delinquents — kids whose backgrounds included drug dealing, gun violence, assault, substance abuse, gang life, and single-parent homes. You name the behavior, and I worked with it. We changed these young men's mindsets by getting them involved in sports, education, and trades, unlocking potential they didn't know they had.
Eventually, I moved into management — still working with youth, but also developing, training, and leading staff. Then, at the peak of my career, I was laid off at 39. In just a few weeks, I went from being a leader in my environment to loading a truck at 3:00 AM for minimum wage.
Devastated. Depressed. Terrified. Ashamed. Angry. Every negative emotion consumed me. As a husband and father of three, I felt like I had let everyone down. But feeling sorry for myself wasn't a luxury I could afford. I loaded trucks, drove trucks, delivered packages, took ride-share gigs, laid mulch — whatever it took. I got us stable, and eventually returned to my trade, this time working with adult offenders.
Every coaching relationship is tailored. These are the areas where my 20+ years of experience translates into real, lasting change for my clients.
I work with people who are ready to make a change but aren't sure how to start. If any of these resonate, we should talk.
A straightforward, no-pressure process designed to meet you exactly where you are.
Erik had a major impact on me as both a manager and a leader. When I first stepped into management, accountability was my biggest challenge — and he was the one who pushed me to grow. He never gave up on me. Those talks shaped the way I lead today. Erik has a rare ability to read people quickly and guide them in a way that brings out their best. As a business owner and nonprofit leader, I still use the frameworks I learned from him.
When I was 18 I was in a rough spot. I didn't have the best examples growing up and my life was spiraling out of control. Working with Erik gave me the opportunity to learn discipline and many other life skills I wouldn't have learned otherwise. His help has followed me well into adulthood and I'm very grateful for that.
I was 17 years old when Erik started working with me. What started as an involuntary relationship quickly turned into a positive role model figure that I will internally use as guidance for the rest of my life. Big E carries himself in a way that demands respect and his methodology of leading by example is something you've either got or you don't.
I had the opportunity to work with Erik during a time when I was looking for more direction and consistency in my life. He helped me build a clearer mindset, set realistic goals, and actually follow through on them. What really stood out was how he challenged me to think differently while still keeping things practical and actionable. It's had a lasting impact on both my personal and professional growth.
"Everyone gets knocked down. Deciding to stay down is a choice."
Had a positive experience? We'd love to hear from you.
I'm not a coach who learned from a book. I've spent 20+ years in the field — working with court-adjudicated youth, adult offenders, families in crisis, and first responders. I've also lived through my own setbacks and rebuilt from the ground up. That's what I bring to every coaching relationship.
